Books are fun.  I still enjoy reading an actual book with pages from time to time, but you know how you have books around that you’re not exactly sure what to do with?  While I was at the craft store a few weeks ago I found a book about making new things out of old books.  This is our first project.

My Son Will is eight and enjoyed helping me with this one.  This craft is super simple, though a bit repetitive. You need a book with at least 300 pages to make the end result look great.  Plus, there is no gluing or assembly, you just fold pages!

The first book we used was a directory of really nice bed and breakfasts all around the country.  It was from 2007 so we decided it was expendable.  The second book was a photography book that was so outdated it was just funny to look at.  Now they are both pretty funky little sculpture pieces that Will can look at and enjoy every day.

Check out the video below.  Each book yields four pieces and we used two different sized books to jazz up a corner of Will’s room where no other art would really fit.
